For sale and wanted

To place a for sale or wanted advert here,  email the text to corribeeeditors@googlemail.com Attaching a photo (or several) will help potential buyers.

A donation towards the cost of running the site is strongly recommended, and will give you the benefit of adding lots of photos, making any amendments you like, and for the advert to run for as long as it takes. We may even be able to put you in direct touch with potential buyers, as we often get enquiries for particular models. We really want to maintain this system as it is much easier to manage on a small site and gives site visitors the widest range of Corribee-specific adverts to look at.

Please note that we always keep expired advertisements running for a little while after a successful sale (with the price and contact details removed) as it helps potential buyers gain a better insight into the state of the Corribee market. However, if you, having placed an advert with us, want it removed immediately we will of course do so.

Cockpit cushions
Cockpit awning and cockpit tent
New standing and running rigging (2004)
Origo 3000 2 burner meths cooker (2009)

We have had much use out of Calypso over the years covering the entire south coast. She is very seaworthy and sails like a dinghy. She can be launched and recovered on a slipway from the cradle. The trailer allows easy transport to different cruising areas, and storage to reduce yard fees. She is reluctantly for sale because we now need a larger boat.

Calypso is currently lying ashore in Northamptonshire.

Wanted – I am looking for a replacement fractional rig mast for our 1969 Mark 1 Corribee. The boat was dismasted when a neighbouring boat broke its moorings in the harbour and mast tangled in the gale of 26th May resulting in our mast being broken at the crosstrees and crashing down on the boat. Does anyone know of such a mast?

For Sale – Otter – Mk2 Corribee and Trailer

Otter is a Mk2 bilge-keel Corribee, fitted with a Yanmar 1GM10 inboard diesel engine and a galvanised 4 wheel trailer. The hull is very sound and had new shoes on the bilge keels and a full paint by GRP in Kyleakin. Unfortunately the buoy I used when Otter was moored outside my house banged against the hull and scratched the new paint work. Otter still looks great but not perfect.

Sadly part of the rail at the rear has come away this winter. Once this is repaired and the rail sanded and varnished and the anti fouling re-done she will be ready for the season. The interior is fine though a bit aged. The previous owner removed the material from the interior of the hull and roof because it had been discoloured through damp over the years. The cushions are comfortable enough for a nights sleep. The head has been removed but there is space for one.

The yanmar 1GM10 engine did apparently work a couple of years ago and should not be too much of an issue to get it up and running. There is not a good marine engineer around here but it was run by a groundwork contractor familiar with diesel engines without any problem though I have never had it running myself as I have not had it in the water since. The previous owner (Jane Buckley – former school mistress) said that it had run fine for her for years but reported heating coil issues. (Editors note – the 1GM10 engine isn’t fitted with heating coils, so maybe this refers to some difficulty starting in cold weather).  I used the outboard without problem to help me into Plockton harbour on the half a dozen occasions I made time to sail. I bought Otter when I bought the Guesthouse in Stromeferry but then unfortunately had to move back to Edinburgh for work and only have managed visits here for a few nights every couple of months to check on my Guesthouse.

The inflatable tender is in full working condition though has been lying on the pier and gone a bit flat.

The depth sounder screen looks a bit damp. The jib is functional though the edge is bleached by the daylight. The mainsail is in very good condition having been kept inside the cabin.

£3500, including trailer and tender

  5. Craig Pagett Says:

A final thank you…. Thanks to everyone for their comments and assistance during my search for a yacht. I was seeking to purchase either a Corribee or a Hurley and I’ve found Hurley 22. To be honest it could have gone either way and my son is now determined to find a Corribee to demonstrate his ability to beat on during next years passages. Very best wishes to you all. Craig

  6. Dave Bilsland Says:

We have a fin keel mark 2 on a road trailer for sale. The boat is sound and the underwater area has been sanded and primed ready for antifouling. There are one or two cosmetic jobs that need doing and there is no outboard. The sails are sound, There is a furling genoa and a spinnaker in addition to the main. There are a couple of spare sails condition unknown. We are looking for around £2000 for boat and trailer. The boat is lying ashore in Invergordon.

    • Craig Pagett Says:

Hi Dave, As you may have noted from my earlier posts I’m Corribee ignorant! However, I’m looking for a boat and I’m tempted. Have you any photos to share of your boat? I’m in Perthshire but unlikely to have an opportunity to view imminently and equally would not wish to waste your time. Photos would be helpful in the first instant. (craigpagett@btinternet.com). Thanks. Craig

  7. Craig Pagett Says:

Hello again. My search continues but I need a little advice.

I have a flat bed trailer with 1800kg capacity which is 3.2 meters from mid point of the single axle to the ball hitch. Can anyone provide peace of mind that a Corribee 21 mk 2 (bilge) would settle on it. By my estimations the distance from the boats mid point will obviously be c10.5ft to the bow but what I’m not sure of is where the point of balance is on a bilge keel and whether that distance to the bow is different. I’m simply trying to determine that the boat will not be too far forward and make contact with the towing vehicle. I may have answered this for myself but need to be sure so any words of reassurance will be appreciated.

Also, can anyone confirm the actual weight of the bilge keel boat – I estimate 1350kg.

Thanks again for all you help.

    Craig

  8. Craig Pagett Says:

    PLEASE HELP

Hello. I’m really impressed with this website, the detail on it and the open and honest dialogue; it make me more determined to find a Corribee of my own.

So, I’m looking for a Fin or Bilge Keel but it has to be on a road trailer in order to travel north to Perthshire. I have a budget of c£2750 give of take but for the full amount I need to be confident the she will rig up and sail away.

I am looking for something before the winter sets in so I can tinker and offer some tlc at home, but nothing to arduous before next season.

I have a preference for a boat with 4 berths and well equiped albeit I know there isn’t too much room below. I need to be able to squeeze the children in for one-nighters.

Having been looking for a Hurley 22, I’m increasingly swayed towards the Corribee which should please everyone on here.

So please help my quest. I’ve just sold my existing boat and expect the funds to be available mid Nov (deposit received) so I’m after something before the year end.

Looking forward to receiving some feedback and ideas. Meanwhile, I’ll be contacting some of the above to see what’s still available on the list above.

    Thanks, Craig

  10. John Wetherell (north Norfolk) Says:

    very good website!
Am interested in a bilge keel corribee but never had a sail in one. Currently in a Swift 18, bit of a handful for a solo codger in a north easter.

Any body looking for crew towards the end of October I would like some corribee experience. Have money to buy the right boat but would need road trailer

  11. Douglas Meikle Says:

    Hello Nick,

I have photos of Peregrine and her trailer ready to send to you but I do not think I can attach them to this reply. I could send them to your email perhaps.
    Douglas.

  12. Douglas Meikle Says:

    Hello Nick,
Its a SBS trailer and seems sound. Original tyres have been replaced as the walls perished, although little used. I trail the 20 miles to the mooring and back home twice each year. The boat is lifted off and then back on the trailer by crane and slings so the trailer does not meet the salt water and wheel bearings are fine as far as I know. There is some rust but the 4 supports and keel platform are OK. The brakes were serviced a while back and the rusted pull rods replaced. In my opinion you should be able to tow the trailer to the East coast without difficulty. I will send this reply and then try and send photos of Peregrine and trailer. Perhaps your email would be best.
    Regards,
    Douglas

    • Douglas Meikle Says:

I have a Corribee mark 2 which I am looking to sell. She is moored in Weymouth Harbour on a Weymouth sailing club mooring at the moment. There is a trailer as she comes home each winter. The hull was sandblasted last winter removing years of antifoul remnants and there are two new foresails`;Jib and Genoa and a reasonable mainsail. I have owned and sailed her since 1977. She is in good condition and there is a Mercury outboard with a clutch and an Avon dinghy. If you are still searching please get in touch and I can send you Photos.

  15. harry Fenton Says:

I`m putting my Corribee up for sale as I want a slightly bigger boat. Mk3, 1981 version. Sailed twice this week. Pretty good condition. Anti-fouled last month. Does anyone have a spinnaker or cruising chute for a Corribee Mk2 that they are looking to sell. Any condition considered. Also looking for a spinnaker pole.

Also, does anyone know of a racing class that would have a similar sized spinnaker that would work on a Corribee?

If searching the likes of ‘boatsandoutboards’, it’s worth bearing in mind that ‘corribee’ is requently misspelt. For example, right now, http://www.boatsandoutboards.co.uk/view/BSC042 doesn’t show up in a search for ‘Corribee’.
    I usually search for ‘ibee’.
