For sale and wanted

To place a for sale or wanted advert here, email the text to corribeeeditors@googlemail.com Attaching a photo (or several) will help potential buyers.

A donation towards the cost of running the site is strongly recommended, and will give you the benefit of adding lots of photos, making any amendments you like, and for the advert to run for as long as it takes. We may even be able to put you in direct touch with potential buyers, as we often get enquiries for particular models. We really want to maintain this system as it is much easier to manage on a small site and gives site visitors the widest range of Corribee-specific adverts to look at.

Please note that we always keep expired advertisements running for a little while after a successful sale (with the price and contact details removed) as it helps potential buyers gain a better insight into the state of the Corribee market. However, if you, having placed an advert with us, want it removed immediately we will of course do so.

Corribee Mk 2 Bilge Keel Sail No 167 For Sale (SOLD), April 2013

This much loved Corribee Mk2 bilge keel yacht ‘Korabel’, sail number 167, has been in the same family for over 30 years and was only lightly used during that time. She has been laid up ashore for the last eight years, and is now for sale as we have bought another yacht. She will need a little work to get her ready for the water again and this is reflected in the price.

‘Korabel’ is sloop rigged with anodised aluminium mast with tabernacle for easy mast stepping, stainless steel standing rigging, Plastimo roller reefing for the headsail and slab reefing for the mainsail. She has a Mercury Sailpower 4hp 2 stroke longshaft outboard, outboard bracket, anchor, chain and warp, tricolour and allround white masthead navigation lights, compass, telescopic tiller extension for the outboard, bilge pump and inflatable dinghy. She has four berths, galley area to port and sink opposite, and cushions and curtains are in good condition. Original Corribee brochures are included in the sale.

The dark blue hull and white deck are in good condition and finished in original gelcoat, which will only require a polish to bring ‘Korabel’ back to a showroom finish. The exterior woodwork needs some attention, including the starboard rubbing strake which requires repair and refitting. The mainsail is in ‘as new’ condition. The genoa will require repair or replacement. A switch panel is fitted to the aft bulkhead. The wiring for the onboard electrics has been removed. The Mercury outboard is equipped for battery charging and wiring is included to connect this to a 12V system.

‘Korabel’ comes complete with her own custom made road trailer. The tyres are in good condition and there is a spare wheel and tyre. The wheel bearings were replaced and brakes serviced within the last 10 years.

Lying ashore near Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire. (Contact details removed – Ed)

REMARKS

This boat has been the subject of a recent renovation, and still has her original gelcoat. Due to be antifouled and coachlines repainted this week, this is a tidy little cruiser. Currently used extensively along the south coast, these cruisers have crossed Oceans single handed. Search ‘ming -ming’ for examples. Junk rig boats, extremely simple to sail, are very easy to set up and cruise with. She handles well, and has never let me down in a strong sea. Easy to reef, the rig virtually sails itself ! Much less fuss than high tension bermuda style rigs. I have used this cruiser for long weekends and long day sails with my small family. She is ready to sail for the season. fimacca12@gmail.com

For Sale – Corrie Bee, Jan 2013 SOLD March 2013

CorriBee_CWadworth_Jan2013

Corrie Bee is a fin-keeled tall mast sloop rigged corribee and is the boat that was specially built for Alan Toone to make his double Atlantic crossing in which he did in 1978 (see PBO May & June 1979). In order to make this trip she was specially strengthened just about all over including an extra layer of fibre-glass and an increase in ballast of 70lbs, all the ballast being lead in order to lower her CofG. Her hull condition is still good with her original gelcoat and below the waterline has been coated with gelshield 2000. All standing rigging ( 1mm oversize) was renewed in 2012. She has a few small chips and scratches (on deck) but all in all sailing wise she is good shape for a 35year old boat although the cabin could benefit from a bit of a face lift. So if you are looking tough small boat with some history she could be the one for you. I am asking £(price removed as now sold – Ed) for her and this price includes a paid-up berth at Portland Marina till March 2014. Current Equipment/fittings:

ICOM (IC-M411) DSC vhf radio
Garmin GPS152 gps/trackplotter
Nasa target log Nasa target echo sounder
Navigation lights, masthead tri and deck level.
Roller reefing forestay (Rotostay) NB. The boat is also fitted with an additional separate forestay.
Large Genoa and a Crusader Sails made mainsail (3yrs old)
Mariner Sailmate 8HP 2cylinder outboard.
Bruce main anchor and a CQR standby/kedge + chain and rode for both.
U shaped lifebelt a lifesling and 3 lifejackets.
Cabin Lighting, 10 watt solar panel (battery trickle charge) + 12 volt battery
Two burner cooker ( 3or 4yrs old)
Fenders (8)
A Porta-Poti (almost unused!)

For Sale – November 2012 – Bilge Keel Corribee – Breaking SOLD March 2013

I am breaking my Mk 3 Corribee, bilge keel, after storm damage which I have not the time to repair. All parts are available – email me with what you are wanting, and we can come to an arrangement.

The damage is mainly to the feet of the bilges, rear underside hull and rudder. It would be repairable to anyone with the time/inclination to undertake the work. There is a two-wheel breakback trailer which was extensively refurbished in 2011 and a launch dolly which was remade at the same time. The trailer would double as a very good car transporter, and I shall sell it as this if I dont find a boating buyer. As is a 9.9 HP long shaft Mariner 2 stroke saildrive about 10 years old. The mast is one of the longer type, with both tan and white sails (rolling genoa and slab reefing main, no 544. Located near Oswestry, Shropshire. Email npclough@btinternet.com with any enquiries.

For Sale – November 2012 – Bilge keel Coromandel SOLD December 2012

Sadly our Coromandel has to go. After a series of disasters she is now a ‘Project’. You can read about her recent history here http://tmiajrb.blogspot.co.uk.

Cons: Hull repair necessary. Two cracks from her recent escapade, above the waterline and easily repairable. Pulpit needs repair/replacement for the same reason. Bilge keels need re-glassing but the ballast is still in tact. Needs new rudder and skeg. Her engine and fuel tank were ‘liberated’ by some kind souls while she was ‘garaged’ post-storm under the bridge. I was going to take the opportunity to two-pack epoxy her hull since she is a 1982 boat and since her storm experience her starboard side is somewhat scarred.

Pros: Amazingly, given her recent adventures she still floats and is watertight. Her hinged mast is newly repaired (by Needlespar) mast (repair cost £420). I’m told a new 4″ hinged mast would cost about £1k. Sail is not pristine but is perfectly serviceable, worth £350 approx She has a well-balanced two wheel braked trailer that makes transporting and launching her straightforward. Probably worth £3-400 She has a NASA Clipper Speed & Depth log and a Clipper GPS Repeater A NASA DSC VHF Radio Bulkhead mounted Plastimo compass. Two burner stove and grill with 6kg gas bottle mounted in the aft port locker. There are the usual assortment of odds & sods that come with boats; two anchors, various fenders etc. She is currently ashore in Swanage and can be viewed by appointment. I’m not young enough and fit enough to undertake the work but any competent handyman could repair her ready for next season and have lots of fun coastal sailing. She’s a tough little cookie and I’m only sad not to be able to do her justice. Offers invited – Contact Tony Gilmore 01929 475844 for further information

For Sale – Junk Rig Mk2, Mandarin Wind and 4 wheel braked trailer for sale.(25 Sep 2012)

Mandarin Wind with Trailer £3750

I was told she was 1980 but the rear stamp cannot be made out, she has the design of this time.

This has the original gel coat to all top sides.

The hull has been stripped down, re undercoated, primed where necessary and repainted with epifanes lacquer finish in black above the waterline and red antifouling. The hull was found to be in very good condition with no signs of osmosis. (photo’s available).

The insides have been stripped down and modified to the simplest layout.

2 round port holes have been added to each side as a previous owner had cut larger windows. The portholes are fitted into 12mm marine ply which strengthens the coach roof and give the more traditional style of the junk rig.

A previous owner had started to make an engine well within the lazarette by cutting a hole (as in the coramandel) This was not finished and not right so has been filled and repaired exceptionally strongly with approx. 25mm of fibre glass and marine ply composite.

The mast and sail are in very good condition and all kept undercover. The halyard and some other rigging are with the mast but needs a new main sheet for the junk sail and pos. some more bits of rope as with the junk rig.

This is a lovely strong little yacht and ready to be further fitted to any individual requirement. I have removed all internal hull wiring and she has no instruments. The original stainless steel side nav. Light fittings have been reinstated but aren’t wired up.

I have lots of photographs of her before, during the work and after. If you are interested, please email me for further photos and info. Very genuine reason for sale.

Mandarin Wind is kept under cover at the bottom of my son’s garden in the North East not far from Newcastle.

The trailer:

This is a “transcontinental” 4 wheel, plated to 1.8T, braked trailer and works well as we towed the Corribee 380 miles to the North East with no problems using a Volvo estate car.

Good braked twin wheel trailer for above. (Car trailer with ramps). 5 new wheels and tyres 2011. £750.

HISTORY.

Blue is a reluctant sale after just one season due to other commitments. Her previous owners had her for several years, wintered her ashore and only very rarely ventured from her mooring in the summer.

Last year we launched and sailed her from Exmouth to our mooring on the Fal calling in at Dartmouth, Newton Ferrers and Mevagissey. After day and weekend sailing we returned to Newton Ferrers via Fowey at the end of September and thence up the Tamar to Weir Quay where she was craned onto her trailer and towed home further up the valley.

The survey we commissioned did not throw up any gremlins and the surveyor judged her to be structurally sound.

She comes well equipped but would benefit from some cosmetic tidying inside.

We have not been able to get her on the water this year but she is antifouled, on the trailer and generally ready to go.

For Sale with or without the trailer.

For Sale – Corribee 434 Goldcrest – (June 11th 2012)

History

I bought the boat in 2006, after one previous owner. I think, the boat originates from approximately the mid-70’s. She was built as a father and son project from a ‘bare boat’ supplied by Newbridge. She was rarely sailed by the previous owners. When she was, it was (I believe) as a trailer-sailer. Certainly when I took her over, her condition was consistent with this story; e.g. the sails were virtually new and sheets were likewise (but have subsequently been replaced by higher quality rope).

Included

Hull, spars and rigging as seen

Main, working jib (both original but in good condition – see above) and genoa new from Emsworth in 2011

Plastimo furling system for jib, fitted 2011

Main halyard (clutch) and topping lift (cleat) brought aft to cockpit

Dodgers and main sail cover new in 2011

Compass mounted on bulkhead, fitted 2011

Full cushion-set for below decks in good condition

Fitted sink and water system – never used in anger by myself!

Cabinet work for stove, but no stove fitted

Sea toilet, one valve seized shut, will need replacing if you want to use this toilet.

Anchor and chain

4-wheel, braked, flat-bed trailer and 2 ratchet straps for load security. I tow her comfortably behind a T5 camper-van. All up weight I would estimate to be somewhere between a ton and a ton and a half.

Mariner 4HP (2006) is not included in the price, negotiation possible (Simply, I will need an auxiliary engine for my new boat and would like to keep the current engine, but as I say…)

General condition

Hull and cockpit are dry and watertight. Deck fittings have been re-seated as necessary. Hull and deck are in a tidy condition and the wooden deck fittings have all recently been stripped re-varnished. The hull has been anti-fouled for the last 6 years, prior to that she didn’t sit in water and the hull is/was clean and in good condition.

Inside the cabin, the original vinyl lining has been removed back to bare glass-fibre. The wooden (ply) linings are all available, in good condition, but not fitted. There is a ‘sea toilet’ but one of the valves is seized shut.

In a general sense, I have been working on the outside, ensuring all that is there is in good shape and there still remains a cabin fit-out to be done. Consequently, visibility of deck fittings and general hull condition above and below is currently good.

There are no electrics or lights on her at the moment. The original wiring system has largely been removed and while the cabin is essentially ‘bare walled’ fitting a new system would be easy and practical.

Offers around £2350

How does one delete a comment or advert. I think a lot of contributers would like to know as some of the items on display are way out of date ?
    Ken Dalton

    • ja Says:

You can email corribeeeditors@googlemail.com however we generally prefer to leave adverts and comments in place and mark them as ‘sold’ so people can see the various Corribees that have been offered for sale over time.

    • scorribee Says:

Just to add that I have added the dates to as many adverts as possible so you can now see when they were submitted (or sold). I am still chasing a few advertisers to check their status, and hopefully soon you will be able to see which adverts are current.

I am sure you would have no difficulty pulling a Corribee with you 1800 Rover provided she is securely strapped down on her 2 wheel trailer. Much easier than a caravan!

  10. Craig Pagett Says:

A final thank you…. Thanks to everyone for their comments and assistance during my search for a yacht. I was seeking to purchase either a Corribee or a Hurley and I’ve found Hurley 22. To be honest it could have gone either way and my son is now determined to find a Corribee to demonstrate his ability to beat on during next years passages. Very best wishes to you all. Craig

  11. Dave Bilsland Says:

We have a fin keel mark 2 on a road trailer for sale. The boat is sound and the underwater area has been sanded and primed ready for antifouling. There are one or two cosmetic jobs that need doing and there is no outboard. The sails are sound, There is a furling genoa and a spinnaker in addition to the main. There are a couple of spare sails condition unknown. We are looking for around £2000 for boat and trailer. The boat is lying ashore in Invergordon.

    • Craig Pagett Says:

Hi Dave, As you may have noted from my earlier posts I’m Corribee ignorant! However, I’m looking for a boat and I’m tempted. Have you any photos to share of your boat? I’m in Perthshire but unlikely to have an opportunity to view imminently and equally would not wish to waste your time. Photos would be helpful in the first instant. (craigpagett@btinternet.com). Thanks. Craig

  12. Craig Pagett Says:

Hello again. My search continues but I need a little advice.

I have a flat bed trailer with 1800kg capacity which is 3.2 meters from mid point of the single axle to the ball hitch. Can anyone provide peace of mind that a Corribee 21 mk 2 (bilge) would settle on it. By my estimations the distance from the boats mid point will obviously be c10.5ft to the bow but what I’m not sure of is where the point of balance is on a bilge keel and whether that distance to the bow is different. I’m simply trying to determine that the boat will not be too far forward and make contact with the towing vehicle. I may have answered this for myself but need to be sure so any words of reassurance will be appreciated.

Also, can anyone confirm the actual weight of the bilge keel boat – I estimate 1350kg.

Thanks again for all you help.

    Craig

  13. Craig Pagett Says:

    PLEASE HELP

Hello. I’m really impressed with this website, the detail on it and the open and honest dialogue; it make me more determined to find a Corribee of my own.

So, I’m looking for a Fin or Bilge Keel but it has to be on a road trailer in order to travel north to Perthshire. I have a budget of c£2750 give of take but for the full amount I need to be confident the she will rig up and sail away.

I am looking for something before the winter sets in so I can tinker and offer some tlc at home, but nothing to arduous before next season.

I have a preference for a boat with 4 berths and well equiped albeit I know there isn’t too much room below. I need to be able to squeeze the children in for one-nighters.

Having been looking for a Hurley 22, I’m increasingly swayed towards the Corribee which should please everyone on here.

So please help my quest. I’ve just sold my existing boat and expect the funds to be available mid Nov (deposit received) so I’m after something before the year end.

Looking forward to receiving some feedback and ideas. Meanwhile, I’ll be contacting some of the above to see what’s still available on the list above.

    Thanks, Craig

  15. John Wetherell (north Norfolk) Says:

    very good website!
Am interested in a bilge keel corribee but never had a sail in one. Currently in a Swift 18, bit of a handful for a solo codger in a north easter.

Any body looking for crew towards the end of October I would like some corribee experience. Have money to buy the right boat but would need road trailer

  16. Douglas Meikle Says:

    Hello Nick,

I have photos of Peregrine and her trailer ready to send to you but I do not think I can attach them to this reply. I could send them to your email perhaps.
    Douglas.

  17. Douglas Meikle Says:

    Hello Nick,
Its a SBS trailer and seems sound. Original tyres have been replaced as the walls perished, although little used. I trail the 20 miles to the mooring and back home twice each year. The boat is lifted off and then back on the trailer by crane and slings so the trailer does not meet the salt water and wheel bearings are fine as far as I know. There is some rust but the 4 supports and keel platform are OK. The brakes were serviced a while back and the rusted pull rods replaced. In my opinion you should be able to tow the trailer to the East coast without difficulty. I will send this reply and then try and send photos of Peregrine and trailer. Perhaps your email would be best.
    Regards,
    Douglas

    victoria@cliftoncruisers.com

Also does anyone sail on any lakes or lochs with their boat we are just learning and not sure if we should put to sea just yet.

    • Douglas Meikle Says:

I have a Corribee mark 2 which I am looking to sell. She is moored in Weymouth Harbour on a Weymouth sailing club mooring at the moment. There is a trailer as she comes home each winter. The hull was sandblasted last winter removing years of antifoul remnants and there are two new foresails`;Jib and Genoa and a reasonable mainsail. I have owned and sailed her since 1977. She is in good condition and there is a Mercury outboard with a clutch and an Avon dinghy. If you are still searching please get in touch and I can send you Photos.

  20. harry Fenton Says:

I`m putting my Corribee up for sale as I want a slightly bigger boat. Mk3, 1981 version. Sailed twice this week. Pretty good condition. Anti-fouled last month. I replaced the headlining with carpet last year which works quite well. I will sell without outboard as I want to keep it unless you desperately want it. Lying Stoke Gabriel. 01803 782942. Will put a picture up soon. Harry fenton.
