I’ve just bought a Coromandel, hull number 8277. Currently named Kouloura but has been named Nosam or Nosamu and has 3 home ports on the transom (HLSC – Holy Loch Sailing Club??, Portsmouth and either Goole or Poole). If anyone knows about her history I would be very grateful. The last owner was Tom S****, who lives just outside Irvine in Ayrshire.

Hello Adam, I did reply to your request for information on your boat Kouloura’s history back in 2016 and some time before that. I heard nothing since so assume you do not look at this boat register. I could not get a reply also from the site admin as to whether or not they were able to forward it to you. 27 February 2017.
Just in case you are around here it is again:
“I am the original owner of the boat purchased new in 1982 from Newbridge Boats Ltd then in Church Street Bridport. It was named Nosam II, Nosam I being a 16ft open dory with balanced lug sail and lifting keel. Many happy weeks & months were spent cruising Solent ports. It was berthed at The Poole Yacht Club in Poole Harbour. In 1988 it was part exchanged for a NB Yachts Pioneer which I sold this year (2015). Someone bought the boat from NB Yachts and for a while it could be seen on a swinging mooring near Salterns Marina and sailing in Poole Harbour. One day I had a call from the coastguard to say they had found the boat drifting unmanned out of the harbour, it had broken free from its mooring. All I could say was that I had sold the boat some time before. That’s the last I saw or knew about the whereabouts of Nosam II. I have a copy of the original sales brochure and the sales advertisement when Newbridge put it for sale secondhand if you want them. Dave Mason (aka. Evad Nosam)”.

I wonder if the Corribee we had when I was a kid is still around (she’s not in the register). A Mk.1 fin keel with sail number 112 and a red hull. Dad bought her in 1976 and we sold her back to Newbridge in (I think) 1981 in part exchange for a Virgo. I’ve got some pictures somewhere which I probably should scan. She was called “Scotch Missed” when we bought her and we kept the name, although I think she was originally called something else.

Stumbled across the new ‘unified’ site and register. Congrats on keeping the torch burning – a truly Olympian feat!
Unfortunately, I could not find my old Corribee on the list, and would be very grateful if anyone knowing the whereabouts – or demise – of FIGITUS (sail no 123) might let me know on my email address, ufomist@gmail.com.
Figitus was a fin keeler, but we gave her a heavier layup and three inch deeper iron keel. We laid her up with a gorgeous maroon gelcoat and she looked like a pocket superyacht!
I sailed her single-handed quite a lot from our mooring at Pompey – furthest down to Camaret.
Still one of my quickest x-channel trips was from the Cherbourg breakwater to Poole Bar Buoy in just under 9 hours, which is an average of nearly 7 knots. Beautiful reach in sunshine, wall to wall blue sky, a force five on the beam. Doesn’t get much better!

PS: Apropro the history, Ronnie Hollands was actually the owner of the design rights, having commissioned Bob Tucker to design, and Tommy Mallon to build, the first boat. Ronnie had a fishing lodge on Loch Corrib, but as one of the East Coast’s top international racers (he had a v successful S&S34 like Ted Heath’s and a Dragon) he used to get a bit itchy for some sailing when he was there. He told Tucker he wanted it to reflect the lines of a Dragon. Naturally!

I’ve just got back from Coniston where I saw a Bermudan rigged Mk I fin keel by the name of Lone Gull at the back of the boat yard. Her prop-shaft hole has been filled and there’s an outboard mount on her stern. She’s not on the list and I don’t have any more details, but there she is.

I note that the register is still showing this vessel as lying in Port-Fréjus, France.
About 10 – 12 years ago I moved Rhythm from there to storage in Dieppe (in the premises of the old Sally Line), but since then I have lost all trace of the boat. Free storage was arranged with a British outfit which was renting the premises. When I tried to recover the boat, I found these people had disappeared from the scene and there was no trace of the boat. Sadly, I can no longer remember the names of the people concerned, despite their being business contacts of my son.
Any news of the boat’s present whereabouts would be most welcomed!

I am the buyer of the boat in Staffordshire that is in your sales area
The boat is Corribee No 443 and the reason it was off your radar is that it has only been sailed twice and garage stored for the last 30 years. This means the hull is like new as are the sails rigging and mast. It really looks like it came out the factory last week.
the boat Number i believe is 7992 . I live in Ely Cambs
The boat needs a bit of work to bring her back external varnish, a clean, and the headlining has fell off, as all boats from this era will have, these are minor maint, the boat has its origonal trailer and launching trolley.
It is possibly the most origonal condition Corribee around.

Sail No 191 “Lappett” is now named Dandy Lion and I am the owner and have been since 17th May 2008. She is kept at Marchwood on Southampton Water. She now has a 6hp Yamaha Outboard. All other info is correct.
Also, Sail No 138 “Gwennan” is sadly no more, I purchased her in 2004 in a very neglected state, did her up and sailed her for two seasons 2006, 2007 until she was damaged when in the boatyard in March 2008. She was an insurance ‘write-off’ and was cut up by me and disposed of. [BRU]

Hi, I’ve just become the proud owner of a Coromandel, sail #66 currently called Looj, but will be renamed AJAX-after one of my old ships! She is going to be moved from mid-Devon to Lydney, Gloucestershire…hopefully over the next week! A couple of years back I bought a rather unloved Corribee – in fact it was sitting in the middle of a field on a trailer exposed to everything the Wiltshire weather could throw at it. The owner had started some restoration work and has done a great job, but realised it was going to take far, far longer than he had envisaged. Ive already got a bige keeled corribee but had to have this one as well ….
Ive now got the time to start work on her, so here are the details:

Coromandel. Built 1983. Hull No.83/40. Sail No.61.
soon to be lying at Woodrulfe Creek off the Blackwater, Essex.
I just bought this boat and intend to give it a refit once it is on the moorings. There’s nothing major required, it’s been anti-fouled this week. But the head lining is sagging in the cabin, the woodwork looks a bit sad (nothing that a good rub down and oiling won’t cure) and a good repaint is needed. I’ll need to fit solid gas pipes for insurance purposes and I’m considering mounting the Outboard outside the hull so I can lift it clear of the water when sailing (reduce drag).
She’s currently called Shoggle II – I will change that to Ying Tong.
I’ll post pics when I get some.

Re number 60. I owned her from 1986 to 1995. Her name when I bought and sold her was Erica. She was a Mk1 , Blue hull, white deck with a Yamaha Malta 3.5Hp. She had a fractional rig and was extensively renovated by me in 1993 including external teak trim and topsides paint job. I kept her at Killenure near Athlone on the River Shannon and cruiser the length of the Shannon and Erne Rivers in her during my time. You can imagine my surprise when I met her immediate preceding hull sister number 59 Sherina on Lough Ree one day. Same colour and rig! I can only guess that both boats were in the same export order.

I appear to have a Corribee Mark I which first appeared in 1962. We do not know how many Mark I’s were constructed probably some 10-12 were built on the banks of Lough Corrib. Korrigan is his name. It’s an Heritage and I try to retaure him. Korrigan will sail again next Octobre.

Update:- 355 ‘Baladin’ Corribee Mk II was sold and moved to her new home in Lymington last July (2008), she is now propelled up the river by a 4.5hp Tohatsu outboard. I’ve done a lot of work on her including new headlining, running rigging and adding mod cons like a chart plotter, stereo etc. I’m having great fun pottering around the Solent singlehanded, I’m also using her as a sail training boat for taking out local people less fortunate than myself. Always looking for likeminded souls to meet up with, I work shifts and tend to get days off during the week.

Diane, you have probably passed “Maybee” several times opposite the harbour masters office,inside of the xod’s Maybee has been there since 2007 and is a mark 2 built in 1977, like you Ive had several changes,including rubbing strakes steps,lockers, linnings etc so would be great to compare notes. Hello. This is the little history of my Coromandel. My Gps position is 38º 16′ 19” N 0º 42′ 11.62” O . This position its in Spain in a country named Elche, province of Alicante. The first name that i know of my boat its ELEFTERIA in the year 1991 and his owner J*** P*** Richardson. In 1992, with the name DELTA PRIMERO and owner F*** Gilo. In 2002 with the name RAVAL ROIG and owner A*** Aracil. In 2008 i buy it and i put the name TAMAMOANA. It means “The children of the sea” in new zealander and i put it in honor of my first son. I know the sail number because is painted in the sail, but i havent number of hull, i dont know where are in my boat.
The problems for mooring in the spanish coast for the price,too expensive, force to park it in a caravans parking at the moment.
The boat have Junk rigged sail, the hull are in very good conditions and i work when i can, in his interiors and his rigging.

I have a Corribee Mk2, fin keel, standard rig Corribee called “Bootneck” I have not been able to find the hull number but the sail has the number 310 on it. The boat is moored at Lossiemouth Harbour and has a Mercury Sailpower 4hp outboard.
The name previous to Bootneck was Laura Jean and was moored at Findhorn.

Update for my Corribee 21 “Maridadi” sail number 580.
Bought by present owner in 2002 when she was then named “Martha III”.
Previous owner bought the boat in 1998 when she was then named “Catchfly of Teighnmouth”.
Since 2007 I have changed the mooring location from Preston Marina to Wardleys Marine Yacht Club on the River Wyre at Hambleton near Fleetwood, Lancashire.

Hi Alan,
Firstly, apologies for the email out of the blue. Your Corribee Maridadi was, once upon a time, my father’s – when she was named Catchfly. I pretty much grew up on that yacht and even have a photo of me as a baby being held over the bow nearly thirty years ago! 🙂
I really hope you don’t think of this as cheeky, but I just wanted to ask that if you ever come to sell her, would you give me first refusal? Doesn’t matter if it’s next month or in twenty years time.
Meanwhile, I hope she’s giving you many a safe and enjoyable voyage.

If the Coromandel register is updateable you can note that Coromandel GASPAR (sail no. 100) has moved to Woodbridge, Suffolk, as her home base.
